Stefan Weiller is a radio playwright and creates highly acclaimed live programms. In his radio plays, Weiller tackles taboo subjects such as social exclusion, dying, death, grief, domestic violence, suicide, and loneliness.
His works: ›Deutsche Winterreise‹, ›Die schöne Müllerin‹ and ›Letzte Lieder – Sterbende und die Musik des Lebens‹ have attracted much attention. Renowned artists such as Jens Harzer, Christoph Maria Herbst, Eva Mattes... regularly collaborate on Stefan Weiller's projects.
Weiller's audio books ›Deutsche Winterreise‹ and ›Die schöne Müllerin‹ were finalists for the Deutscher Hörbuchpreis (German Audio Book Prize). ›Deutsche Winterreise‹ was included in the shortlist for the Jahrespreis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik (German Record Critics' Annual Prize). ›Die schöne Müllerin‹ was awarded the ›Jahrespreis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik‹ by the jury and included in the list of the best in the Word Art category.
All projects are involved intensive research, for which Weiller conducts interviews with those affected. »The specialist for the uncomfortable«, is how the Hamburger Abendblatt newspaper described the artist's work. Weiller illuminates the dark side of life and devotes himself to those people who are overlooked and marginalised or who, for their own protection, must remain anonymous. Weiller writes freely based on motifs. His texts are based on his research.
Weiller is currently working on an adaptation of Schubert's ›Schwanengesang‹, among other projects.
