Leon Liang

Leon Liang was born into a Chinese-Australian family in Sydney in 2001. Since 2019, he has been studying composition with Olga Neuwirth and others at the Vienna University of Music and the Performing Arts; since 2022, he has also been studying there to be a conductor and opera répétiteur. His compositional style was strongly influenced by the multi-cultural environment of his childhood, including traditional Chinese music, Western classical music and jazz; it has also been shaped by his studies of the first and second Viennese schools. His compositions have been performed by musicians including Andrew Watts and Ensemble Modern; as a conductor, he has appeared at events such as Wien Modern and others.
