Diego Ramos Rodríguez

Diego Ramos Rodríguez is a composer, violinist and performer working in the fields of concert, film, theater and multimedia. His compositions have been performed throughout Europe, the USA, Kazakhstan and Japan by formations such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra (RSO), the Ensemble Modern and the Ensemble Intercontemporain, have won several awards, broadcast on radio and television and recorded on CD. In 2023, WDR3 broadcast a portrait of his multifaceted work.

He has composed the music for films and silent films such as ›The Universal Theory‹ (2023), ›Mother’s Baby‹ (2025), ›Kohlhiesels Töchter‹ (1923/2024) and ›Ein Walzertraum‹ (1925/2025), which premiered at the Berlinale, the Biennale in Venice and the Staatstheater Mainz, among other, was awarded the Prize of the German Critics Association (Preis der Deutschen Filmkritik 2023) and nominated for the German and the Austrian Film Awards. His engagement with the rediscovery and actualisation of older repertoire also led to the release of the album SONOROUS, featuring virtuosic arrangements of baroque string music for two horns.

Diego Ramos Rodríguez is founder member of the experimental music theater collective Matter of Facts Studio, and has been a guest composer at numerous avantgarde festivals and venues throughout Europe and in Japan. He teaches Electronic Media at the HfMDK Frankfurt and collaborates frequently in music education projects with the Netzwerk Neue Musik Baden Württemberg and the Bundesakademie für musikalische Jugendbildung, the Landesmusikakademie Niedersachsen and the Netzwerk JungeOhren among others. He finished his PhD in Musicology in 2023 at the Goethe University in Frankfurt.
