The soprano Pia Davila is a versatile singer: in addition to the perennial concert repertoire and sacred music, she champions world premieres, new forms of musical theatre and novel ideas.
In the opera field, she performs mostly baroque opera or contemporary repertoire, where she has made a name for herself in important productions over the course of only a few years. Thus, she has appeared at the Osnabrück Municipal Theatre, the Braunschweig State Theatre, the Bremen Theatre, the Hamburg State Opera, the Deutsche Oper Berlin and at the Munich Biennial. In the summer of 2024, she was invited to perform the main role of Jasmin in the opera ›Koma‹ under the baton of Bas Wiegers at the Salzburg Festival. In June 2025, her latest CD appeared, the first-ever recording of the opera ›Argenore‹ by Wilhelmine of Bayreuth. In the spring of 2026, she will interpret the Haydn opera ›Zanaide‹ with the Kammerakademie Potsdam.
Karlheinz Stockhausen’s music has occupied a large part of Pia Davila’s work. In 2019, she first sang ›Dienstag‹ and ›Donnerstag‹ from ›Licht‹ at the National Opera in Amsterdam, directed by Pierre Audi. With Maxime Pascal and the orchestra Le Balcon, she sang ›Donnerstag‹ in Paris, directed by Benjamin Lazar, as well as ›Sonntag‹ directed by Ted Huffmann and ›Montag‹ directed by Silvia Costa at the Philharmonie in Paris and the Lille Opera.
An active concert performer on the international scene, Pia Davila has performed throughout Europe at major churches, contemporary music festivals, leading festivals for Johann Sebastian Bach’s music and baroque music festivals. 26 works have been written for her so far.
Apart from her musical activities, she dedicates her time to social projects; for example, she was invited to the German President’s 2019 New Year’s Reception at Bellevue Palace in recognition of her work on behalf of refugees.
Born in Berlin, the German soprano studied with Jörn Dopfer at the Hamburg Academy of Music and Theatre, where she completed her concert degree with honours in March 2018.
