Niels Klein

Niels Klein is a saxophonist, clarinetist, composer, arranger and conductor living in Cologne. His numerous releases as a bandleader include albums ranging from trio, and quartet formats to large ensembles of various sizes to big band and orchestral lineups. He has received numerous awards such as the WDR Jazz Prize for Composition, ECHO Jazz, and many others. As a composer, arranger, and conductor, he regularly works with the big bands of the NDR and WDR as well as many other big bands and orchestras of the independent scene in Germany and Europe. He has been part of the permanent artistic management team of the Bundesjazzorchester (BuJazzO) since 2011 and has been a professor of jazz saxophone and ensemble at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln since 2016.
