Piotr Peszat

Piotr Peszat is composer and sound artist based in Cracow. His artistic activity combines elements of instrumental and electronic music as well as multimedia and performance. Recently, he won the first prize at the Roche Young Commissions competition after which the jury members commissioned him to write an orchestra piece, which was performed during the 77th Lucerne Festival. Peszat has participated in workshops and festivals where his compositions were presented: Aarhus Jazz Festival, Lucerne Festival, Warsaw Autumn Festival, Ung Nordisk Musik Festival, Musica Polonica Nova, Musica Electronica Nova, Darmstadt Ferienkurse Für Neue Musik, Donaueschinger Musiktage, Audio Art Festival, Sacrum Profanum, Ultraschall Festival. He has collaborated with ensembles such as the ensemble MusikFabrik, Klangforum Wien, Ensemble Recherche, Scenatet Ensemble, the Lucerne Festival Academy Orchestra and the Orkiestra Akademii Beethovenowskiej. Piotr Peszat graduated with distinction from the Music Academy in Cracow after composition studies with Krzysztof Meyer (2009-2014) as well as master studies at The Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus in Simon Steen-Andersen’s and Niels Rønsholdt’s classes (2013-13). Peszat holds a doctoral degree in musical arts from the Academy of Music in Cracow (2018). In addition to independent activities, he creates music for the theatre (among others, ›Chinka‹ - TR Warszawa, ›Koniec Miłości‹ - TP Bydgoszcz, ›Dziki‹ - TD Wałbrzych, ›Trzynaście sztuk awangardowych‹ - Cricoteka) and films (studio FilmLove). He works as an assistant at the Studio of Electroacoustic Music at the Academy of Music in Cracow.
