Peter Kujath, born in Munich on January 13, 1972, studied political sciences, philosophy and Japanese studies at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich. From 1998 to 1999 he lived in Tokyo, Japan, for study purposes. After working as a freelance journalist for Bavarian Radio, he was appointed director of central tasks in the audio play department there in 2000. From 2007 to 2013 Kujath was the ARD radio correspondent for the East Asian Studio, located in Tokyo. In 2014 he took on various project directorships with Bavarian Radio and since 2015 he has been the director of the department of trimedia programming of the ARD. Kujath also runs a farm in the Bavarian Forest.
